Human-in-the-loop
Find the agent that needs you.
Use agent sessions and Workstream to bring permission requests, questions and plan reviews into one desktop panel. Set up hooks first, then decide what to approve.
- 01Agents · run their tasks
- 02Workstream · collect requests
- 03You · respond in context
Before you start
- Use a supported agent session on macOS for the CLI hook-setup steps below. Install termdock from Settings > Skills > Command Line Tool; that one-click CLI installer is not available on Windows.
- Install the corresponding Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI and authenticate it separately.
- Keep Termdock and the host computer running. This is a desktop workflow, not a hosted job runner.
Check the hook configuration
Inspect the current hooks, then preview the setup for the provider you use. The example below is for Claude Code; use codex or gemini for those providers.
termdock hooks status --json
termdock hooks setup --agent claude --dry-run --jsonEnable the provider hooks
After reviewing the proposed setup, install the hooks. Check the resulting status before relying on Workstream for requests.
termdock hooks setup --agent claude --json
termdock hooks status --agent claude --jsonTest one request before leaving it running
Start a small task in the supported agent session that needs a normal permission decision. Confirm that its request appears in Workstream and that your response reaches the correct session. Provider and session support can differ; verify your own setup.
Keep decisions separate from notifications
Review permission requests and plans in the desktop Workstream panel. Discord or Telegram notifications can tell you when to look; they are configured separately. Do not assume a phone notification is a remote permission approval.
Know the limits
- Hooks must be configured for the provider. An ordinary shell running an arbitrary CLI does not imply full Workstream support.
- Phone browser access requires pairing and network reachability. Away from the LAN, you supply a route such as Tailscale or ZeroTier.
- Workstream is not automatic approval. Keep destructive actions and sensitive access under your control.
What you should end up with
You know where a request came from, what it needs, and which session receives your answer.
